Accounting and Tax

JAFZA Audit and UAE Corporate Tax

Your financial statements and accounting records may also support your wider UAE Corporate Tax compliance process. However, audit obligations and tax obligations are separate matters and should be assessed individually.

What Should Free Zone Businesses Consider?

A Qualified Free Zone Person (QFZP) in JAFZA must have audited financial statements every year. The audit is mandatory, irrespective of revenue.

JAFZA is a Designated Free Zone. A QFZP engaged in distribution activities is also required to obtain an AUP Audit (Agreed Upon Procedures Audit) from an independent external auditor, as per FTA Decision No. 6 of 2026. This applies to tax periods starting on or after 1 January 2026.

Accurate accounting records and consistent financial information can help support tax compliance. An audit alone does not establish QFZP eligibility or guarantee a particular tax outcome.

Obtain advice based on current UAE Corporate Tax rules and your company’s specific facts.

Frequently Asked Questions

JAFZA Approved Auditors: FAQs

You should confirm that the audit firm is currently recognised and eligible to undertake audits for your particular JAFZA entity. Check the latest official information with the relevant JAFZA authority before appointing an auditor.

Audit and financial reporting obligations depend on the requirements applicable to the registered entity and reporting period. Confirm the current rules with JAFZA before assuming that an exemption or a particular requirement applies to your company.

The duration depends on the volume and complexity of transactions, the completeness of the accounting records, the availability of supporting documents and how quickly queries are resolved. Ask your auditor for an estimated timeline after the initial assessment.

Commonly requested records may include the trade licence, financial statements, trial balance, general ledger, bank statements, bank reconciliations, invoices, fixed asset schedules and relevant contracts. Additional documents depend on your business and the audit engagement.

Fees vary with business size, transaction volume, company structure, accounting record quality and audit scope. Request a written proposal that identifies the work, deliverables and any separately charged services.

This depends on whether the existing firm is eligible to undertake your JAFZA engagement and whether any other applicable requirements are met. Confirm the firm’s current eligibility before making the appointment.

Accounting support and statutory audit work involve different responsibilities. Whether the same firm can provide both depends on applicable independence and ethical requirements, the nature of the services and the safeguards available. Discuss the proposed arrangement with the firm before proceeding.

Audit and Corporate Tax requirements are distinct, although the financial information used for an audit may also be relevant to tax compliance. A completed audit does not automatically establish eligibility for a particular tax treatment. Assess the tax position separately under the applicable rules.
